MBB  1-28-2012  Despite a balanced scoring attack with five Pirates in double-figures, the Ventura College men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 85-84 decision at Cuesta College Saturday night in a showdown for the top spot in the Western State Conference.  VC (13-11, 5-2) held an 83-73 advantage with 3:55 remaining in the contest, but the Cougars (18-7, 6-1) managed an 11-0 run to take the lead.  READ MORE... 

 WBB  1-28-2012  They say winning ugly beats losing.  For the Pirates, it barely beats losing.  Saturday night, Cuesta turned a 39 point defeat at VC earlier this month into a two point game in the final 15 seconds.  The Pirates narrowly escaped a road contest for the second game in a row, winning 47-44.  Destinee LaFountain had  a double-double, scoring 16 points with 12 rebounds, and Makayla Morrison had  six points, five rebounds and outstanding play on the defensive end of the floor.  READ MORE...

 WBB  1-25-2012  The Pirates' women's basketball team went cold at the most inopportune time.  They failed to score a field goal in the final 12:24 of Wednesday's game at Moorpark, but solid defense and timely free throw shooting allowed VC to escape with a 52-48 victory.  The Pirates (23-1, 6-0) were led by 11 points each from Rebecca Griffin and Rian Mew, and 10 points from Stephanie Ramirez.   READ MORE...

 FB  1-23-2012  Pirate head football coach Steve Mooshagian has announced the transfer of 12 members of the 2011 VC football team to four-year universities.  Three have transferred to NCAA Division I - FBS schools, seven to NCAA Division II institutions, one to an NAIA school and one to an NCAA Division III institution.  The coaching staff expects 10-12 more transfers at the end of the spring.  READ MORE...
