James Ennis '11 Signs in NBA

VC alumnus James Ennis '11 signed a contract with the NBA's Miami Heat Tuesday, becoming the third former Pirate to reach the ultimate level of professional basketball competition. basketball

 MBB  7-14-2014  Ventura College alumnus James Ennis ’11 has signed a contract with the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association.  Ennis, who led the Pirates to the Western State Conference’s best record in his sophomore season at VC, becomes the third former Pirate to reach the ultimate level of professional basketball competition, joining VC Hall of Famers Cedric Ceballos ’88 and Rafer Alston ’95.  READ MORE... 

Ramljak Earns Academic Honor

VC Alumnus Austin Ramljak has been named Academic All-Conference for Conference-USA for the second year in a row.

 MBB  3-10-2013 from Rice University Athletics Senior Rice University men’s basketball guard Austin Ramljak (VC Class of 2012) was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team for a second-straight year, the league office announced on Thursday.  Ramljak is joined on the squad by Charlotte’s Ben Cherry, the Florida Atlantic duo of Justin Raffington and Jackson Trapp and Vertrail Vaughns of North Texas. Ramljak leads Rice in scoring average, with 11.7 points per game and ranks among both the league and national leaders in three-point shooting. His 83 treys on the season are tied for the program record and the Thousand Oaks, Calif. native has knocked down a three-pointer in 33-straight games dating back to last season. Pirate Season Ends in Playoffs

Sophomore Ivan Dooley had 28 points, but the Pirates lost 78-56 at Mt. San Jacinto in the SoCal Regional Quarterfinals Saturday night, ending Ventura's season with a record of 17-11.

 MBB  3-1-2014  It was a great run while it lasted, but the Ventura College men's basketball season came to an end Saturday night with a pair of Mt. San Jacinto College runs in the first half of their CCCAA SoCal Regional Quarterfinal contest in Hemet.  The No. 3-seeded Eagles put together a 15-2 run midway through the first half and closed the period on a 11-0 streak in the final three minutes to take complete control.  Ivan Dooley scored a game-high 28 points in his final game in the orange and black while Jalen Young and Jon McMurry netted 11 and 10 points, respectively for No. 19 VC (17-12) in the loss.  READ MORE...
