W Tennis Finds Road Difficult

4-5-2011 The
Pirates' women's tennis team found difficult
sailing on the road Tuesday, falling 9-0 at
undefeated Western State Conference
frontrunning Santa Monica College. The
Corsairs, who also won the WSC last year,
swept VC in both singles and doubles
competition on their home court.
Layne Gallimore had the closest match of
the day at No. 2 singles, falling 6-3, 7-5.
Ariel Bergthold lost 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1
singles and
Katie Power was defeated 6-3, 6-3 at No.
5.
Ventura (6-6,
5-5) will attempt to rebound in a
non-conference match Thursday April 7 at
Riverside. They return home against
Cypress College Saturday April 9 at 11:00
am.
