Pirates Drop Heartbreaker in WPH Tournament

     Ventura College dropped a heartbreaking 94-93 decision to Orange Coast in the first round of the We Play Hard Tournament at the Athletic Event Center Friday night.  Sophomore Pierce Brooks led VC with 23 points while Eysan Toole contributed 17 points and Jeremiah Slowik netted 12. 

     Ventura will return to action on Saturday Nov. 14 at 3:00 pm in the consolation semifinals against Pasadena City College, who fell to Bakersfield 100-75.  Other first round games included Oxnard's upset of Antelope Valley 69-65 and LA Valley over Moorpark 77-72.  At 1:00 pm on Saturday Moorpark will battle Antelope Valley, followed by VC-PCC at 3:00 pm.  Oxnard and LA Valley will square off in one semifinal at 5:00 pm while Bakersfield and Orange Coast will meet at 7:00 pm.  All games are at the Athletic Event Center.
