Find:

     -22    +    10    =     -12

     -63    -   (-18)    =    -63    +    18    =    -45

When adding and subtraction signed number look at the signs.  If the signs are the

   same add the absolute value and affix the sign of the two numbers.  If the signs are

   different subtract the absolute value and affix the sign of the largest absolute value.

     -5 ·  (-7)    =    -5(-7)    =    35

     -132  ¸  (-11)    =    12

     -136  ¸   8    =    -17

When multiplying signed numbers look at the signs.  If the signs are the same the answer is positive and if the signs are different the answer is negative.

If you are multiplying more than two numbers, count the number of negative sign.

  If that sum is even the answer is positive, and if that sum is odd the answer is

  negative.

Find:

   36  ¸   (5  -  2)²    +    6 · 7                           (-20    +    4)  ¸   2³    -    3 ·  4²

   36  ¸      (3)²        +     42                                     (-16)      ¸   8     -     3 ·  16

   36  ¸       9          +     42                                                -2           -        48

Order of Operations

   1. Perform all operations within symbols of inclusion. (parenthesis, brackets, etc.)

   2. Perform all powers & roots.

   3. Perform multiplication and division in the order given from left to right.

   4. Perform addition and subtraction in the order given from left to right.
