Favorite Teachers
Henny Kim (English)
selected by
Jessi Selleh
When we were first asked to choose our favorite
teachers at first I had no clue who I would
choose because I have had such great experiences
with each teacher I've had at Ventura College.
One teacher kept coming up in my mind, however,
and that was my English teacher, Professor Henny
Kim. She created a fun and open environment for
her students where we weren't afraid to discuss
controversial issues. Professor Kim, or Henny,
as she asked the class to call her, made me feel
comfortable with her—almost as a peer—but I also
knew where her boundaries were.
I appreciate her unconventional ways, like how
we would sit in a circle in class rather than
rows to allow our brains to think freely. It's
always refreshing to find a teacher who really
loves what he or she is doing. Henny is
definitely one of those teachers and I'm so glad
that I took one of her classes. Thank you, Henny,
for being such a great teacher.
