had built an 11-0 lead before the Lady

minute later. Back-to-back
3-pointers from Padilla at the 13:07 and
12:07 marks, respectively, stretched the
Pirate advantage to 18-2 and the score was
25-4 before Taft (2-6) hit their first
field goal past the halfway mark of the
opening period. The teams played the
remainder of the stanza even, as VC took a
48-29 lead into intermission.
Erika
Ward took the game over as the second
half began, scoring eight of VC's first 10
points, and 12 of their first 20, helping
stretch the Pirate lead to 66-37 with
12:40 left in the contest. Ventura
led 74-48 with just over six minutes
remaining before they ended the game with
a 13-3 run, making the final count 87-51.
Chanelle
Brennan led the Pirates offensively
with 19 points on 8-9 shooting.
Heurung finished with a double-double of
17 points and 13 rebounds, while Ward
