Dr. Ara Khanjian by Jessi Selleh

I went into my Macro Economics class not really expecting to get much out of it except to fill a requirement on my IGETC. I also was convinced that economics was boring and for pointy headed people. Who can forget listening to the Fed’s Greenspan drone on an on an on.  It wasn’t too long before I realized that any subject is as interesting as the person who teaches it.  My thinking was wrong and that was a good thing. I was getting much more out of taking a class with Ara Khanjian, as he opened my mind to economics, and I found my favorite teacher.

Ara was able to make complicated subject matter easily understandable and applicable in real life.  He has a brilliant mind, and an excellent attitude.  He always walked into class prepared to enlighten his students by breaking down concepts and putting them in understandable terms. I found myself reading the business section of the paper an actually caring about what I was reading. He made an abstract concept tangible and I only hope that I can find more teachers like Ara when I move on to a four year university.

If you think like I did that economics is for pointy headed people …enroll in Ara’s class and do yourself a favor.
