rebounds, and 10 assists led the
Pirates to an 83-63 Southern

The six VC sophomores and their

Brennan named WSC Player of the
Week
2-16-2010
What a week for Pirate sophomore
Chanelle Brennan. Her
31 point performance led Ventura
past Santa Barbara on Wednesday.
She scored 12 of VC's 14 points
in the decisive run in the
second half as Ventura clinched
its 20th consecutive Western
State Conference championship.
Then she led the Pirates with 22
points against LA Pierce on
Saturday. In the first
half, she converted
Kris King's assist and
became the 8th player in Ventura
College history to surpass the
1,000 point benchmark, the first
Pirate since 2004. For her
efforts, Chanelle was named the
WSC Player of the Week for the

2-10-2010
It was her opening week of
practice at Ventura College and
the coaching staff might as well
have been speaking a foreign
language. Chanelle
Brennan had never run a
scripted fastbreak. It didn’t
feel like the game she knew.
“I
was confused,” said Brennan.
“I wasn’t used it. I asked
myself why we were doing it.”
Nearly
two seasons and countless
flowing trips down the floor
later, Brennan, the loping legs
of the Pirates’ swashbuckling
fastbreak, looks like she’s
been running the system her
entire life. “Now,”
said Brennan, “it seems easy

11-28-2009 Some
nights are meant to be
remembered. Pirate
sophomore Chanelle
Brennan will
remember Saturday's
semifinal of the VC-Kiwanis
Tournament of Champions
for a long time, as she
had career highs in
points, 32, and
rebounds, 11, to go
along with three assists
and a blocked shot in
leading VC to a 71-53
victory over Santa
Monica. The win
propels the Pirates,
ranked #1 in the state
coaches poll, into
Sunday's final against
#2 Mt. San Antonio
College at 4:00 pm at
the Athletic Event
Center. The game
will be broadcast live
on the internet at www.HomeFieldSports.com.
